Nepal has become a Federal Democratic Republic from May 28, 2008 (15 Jeth 2065) after the Constituent Assembly overwhelmingly voted for abolition of the country’s 240-year-old monarchy. Proposal tabled by the government for implementation of a republic has been passed as 560 members out of 564 present voted in favor of the proposal and 4 against on late Wednesday night at 2320 hours.

Yesterday a total of 568 CA members were sworn in at Birendra International Convention Center (BICC) in Kathmandu.

You’re my star, a light to find my way in the dark. You lift me up when I’m feeling down, and I’m lost when you’re not around. All that you are is more than I could have ever dreamed. I fell for you from the very start. With just a smile, you claimed my heart. Now I intend to let you know every day; I want to make you mine in every way, because I you.

Why the Great Britain still has Queen, the Japan has Emperor, Brunei has Sultan & Thailand has King? Australia, New Zealand & Canda still honor Queen of England and those countries are so civilized and stronger economically (atleast far better off than us) and they can’t get rid of off their majesties because the people they don’t want to. So why only Nepal & Nepalese people hate the Kingship? Is this a family feud or just a Jealousy…???
If you are too proud to be Nepalese please help those Nepalese in need of help in Bhutan & in Darjeeling currently, they need help & Nepalese voice…they really need your help at this moment…

For Mr. Shrstha I want to say one thing for your word change, you always used the word change can you explain me what does it mean as i live in Kathmandu for long time and i know about your newari calture and i repect your culture also in same way as a nepali we have some culture and Royal Family and Royal Palace one part of our nepai culture so if you think you are responsible citizen of Nepal than try to respect the hindu culture.
In the name of change don’t forget your culture you are proud to say Neapli only because of this Shah Dynasty and i think your family are also proud to say that they are Nepali isn’t it so don’t forget this. Country has to be changed economically but the tradition should not be changed we have to keep some space for tradition and culture. Millions of people comes to Nepal as a toursit but they always asked the tradition and culture of Nepal not your Politic Change.

    My dear friends!
Why everybody is keeping mum? Please tell something in favor of your ‘great Gantantra’. I will be happy to reply your question.
Don’t forget that I am not in favour of absolute king. Ceremonial king was my agenda. I was failed by the parties which only favor Republic perhaps for their own interest rather than for public interest. People have no option as every party was favoring Republic, so people did not get any option. There should have been Referndum for the issue. It seems that Nepalese people have long way to go for their country’s stability. I am really fade up by the activities run by these parties. Parties never have long term vision, and are guided by shortsightedness. But here people’s interest is being sacrificed without giving appropriate opportunity for them whether they want monarchy to stay or go. Really sad!

Shut the mouth and work only to achieve…. (Contd.)

What I intended to say using the above expression is “less speech and more work”. In my personal opinion, our leaders appear to be the most Rhetoric in the world.

I do apologize if the above expression was interpreted in another way. However, I still do not agree with the version of monarchy for the betterment of people’s life. It has to be wiped out completely…!!!

Federal Democratic Republic-all rubbish. In the name of peoples’ mandate, political parties are working like a syndicate. Peoples are suffering more these 3 years than Gyanendra’s 1.5 years direct rule. Everywhere there is corruption, political leadership are corrupt, ministers’ are corrupt, bueraucracy is corrupt, so-called civil society corrupct (ethically).
Do you believe? during his these around 3 years’ tenure, Sitaula earned 37 crore, Mahat earned 32 crore, sujata earned 26 crore……there is long list of corrupt ministers and officials. This is the golden age for corruption in Nepal. Innocent Peoples are being victimized, in terai many peoples are being killed, women are being raped. Butchers are ruling the country.
Sorry to say-even country’s souvereingty is in stake. We are proceeding towards 18 th century when there were 22 se and 24 se entities. Prithivi Narayan was foolish-Girija and Prachanda are the wisest among nepalese.
All are playing in the hand of RAW. Nepal-next Sikkim?

    Dear Mr. shrestha,
Thank you for your latest posting. You have every right to express your view on ‘Republic’. The only thing is that we have to cultivate a habit of giving expression based on logic or evidence. My view is that Republic itself is not going to give anything to Nepali people. But monarchy was representing Nepal’s tradition, culture, its ownness that differentiate Nepal with other country. People are saying the integration of the country also is the contribution og monarchy. In the past kings could have done mistakes. But ceremonial king will have no option to do wrong. Perhaps you have heard that ‘king can do no mistake’. However, absolute king can do mostake. That’s why I also don’t like absolute king.

I don’t understand WHY people in Nepal are so happy about NEW NEPAL!!!
All the bloody politicians are inconsiderate are corrupted and there is NO difference in Old or New Nepal.
Welcome to so called NEW NEPAL-
    – Oil price gone up
    – Transport price gone up
    – Food price gone up
    – No Jobs
    – Pollution, I don’t have to tell you
    – Unemployement gone up
    – People are desperate to leave country (no control)
    – People are fedup with Maoist trying to resolve this issue with other parties
    – Nepal Arilines have only one international flight (what a f&%$ing shame)
    – Power – don’t be suprise if someone lock you up in the toilet, if minister can do it then why not an ordinary people?
    – No security in and outside valley, people are still scared to live their normal life
    – People are beaten to death by YCL and Maoist (Ram Hari Shrestha was killed by Maoist and they have taken the responsibility)
    – I guess there are now thousands of small parties who have power to shutdown Nepal, chakka jam, haadtal etc. Non of the parties are interested to resolve their issue before they take these action.

    AND SO ON………………………………

I am a fedup Nepali guy who still trying to figure out why people are so exicted about NEW NEPAL…!!!!!!!!!!

Lets see…all good and bad goes to these leaders….althouth “New Nepal”, “Republic” , “Federal Nepal” whatever…whatever names are given but the poor people are suffering from the massive price hike, insecurity, lack of law and order etc. etc. Till now no one knows where our country is heading at althogh big speeches and assurances to very poor peoples are coming….
