Snowfall in KTM after 62 years

For the first time in around 62 years, Kathmandu Valley on Wednesday (Feb 14, 2007) experienced brief snowfall. Areas like Kirtipur, Babarmahal, Lagankhel and others saw snowfall for some minutes. It snowed for about 45 minutes, from 1:30 pm to 2:15 pm at Tribhuwan International Airport.
The valley is about 4387 feet above sea level. Meanwhile, most areas in the eastern hilly region saw snowfall, while other areas experienced rainfall.
Jomsom, Sankhu-wasabha, Parbat and some other hilly districts saw about 2-3 feet of snow. The snow along with rainfall was due to the western disturbance in Pakistan and North west India.

People thrill at the snow flakes amidst a downpour in the valley on Wednesday afternoon. The Valley floor saw its first snowfall in 62 years. The last time snowfall was seen in the valley was on January 6, 1944, after heavy rainfall in Jiri.

How Can I forget this Wonderful day.it was the valentine day and It was the same day when I got VISA for the United States…The last wonderful experience that I made in Nepal.

Really i missed that event. may be it was once time in mylife to see to snow fall in KTM but unfurtunatly i missed that day. ……………any i will wait for next 62 years. ……….

I am living at the part of the world which is full of snow day n night those days but i really wish i had been in Kathmandu.. snow had been felt different

i really miss thats snowing days,ooooooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuu
i am expecting occasionally snowing in kathmandu.
