We have always been portraying Nepal as a landlocked mountainous country discriminating a large area of flat region, Terai, its culture and the people living there who proudly love to be called Nepali. We have beautiful mountains, but the beauty of Terai is also fascinating. Every time I visit my village, Sehari in Nawalparasi, I feel so refreshed as its peace loving people and natural beauties have always fascinated me. Have you explored our Beautiful Terai?

Our Terai is really beautiful and full of natural resources. But it is shameful that some groups of evil hearted people are trying to destroy the image and beautiness of Terai. We should fight against them and have to get sucess and then we can get sucess.

Now main (Naike) Kamreds are inside Singha Darbar, so try to enter inner parts of our real Terai. Terai is the heart of Nepal. We all are Nepali and most not divide with our skin color, dress and tongue. We all are just Nepali.

One picture in which a little girl is standing and in the background quite possibly “bhutaha jungle” , if i am not mistaken, stands bald with leaves leaving them as Narayani swept across and consumed my village, is heart-wrenching. I remember vividly my childhood days at Sehari. Hard working and warm people who always welcomed me with open warms. I played with tharu brothers and sisters and have lots of good memories. With a combinition of lenses, he has shown us, how nepali should envision each and every aspect of our wonderland, Nepal. Time n again, with majority of power centralized in the valley, the plain has always been ignored. With its vast horizon, low lying plains and a great row of coconut trees, terai has properated Nepal as a tropical paradise. The vast plain of terai yields the majority of food for the entire Nepal. Thank you, Mr. K.C. for not discriminating the majority of Nepal.

Moreover, I am utterly pleased to see the comments by our fellowmen who relish the beauty of pics abroad and pour their heart out the love and affection that they bear in them in whichever part of this globe they are trotting on.

A big applause goes to Mr. Rajesh K.C. and team for their untiring effort paid to bring out all these enchanting snaps despite the haloobaloo and chaos atmosphere created by some mischievous groups for their vested interest which is fed by some extremist.

Your Photography & selection of subject is very effective. But the Terai and Himal are enough in various medias. It is relevant to hilight rural life activities and inside the villages, hills and passes, vallies etc .

It’s a wonderful feelings to be able to see such a beautiful pictures from across the Tarai.

    I was Nepali.
    I am Nepali.
    I will always be Nepali.

May unity, peace, harmony and prosperity prevail in Nepal.
May the leaders serve the country with highest level of honesty and integrity.
May they get the wisdom to be the most benevolent saints and guardiants of Nepal.
May our leaders sacrifice personal gain for the sake of the country.
In return they will be remembered and honored as good daughters and sons of Nepal.
My dear mother Nepal needs benevolent daughters and sons.

I am longing for my peaceful and beautiful Nepal.
I am longing dearly to be with my motherland.

My lovely Nepal, I love her very much. And no matter what may happened to her I will always love, honor and defend without any personal gain or selfishness.
My mind is always there in Nepal. In the last 18 years, I can’t remember any hour of the day that I didn’t think Nepal.

i have a good collection of dhirghaman chitrakar to kiran courtesey to that family and especially kiran.

    Dear Rajesh,

I just find this site and visit it. I get a chace to see some photo gr5aphs and also your indication abt our terai reason.

Yes you are right we always talk abt hills and himalayas… cuz do you know it is our introduction..as Nepal, and 83% of the Nepali land belongs to it. Terai it is important but it only cannot make our Identity because There are large area of terai in this world including our neighbouring India.
Through you wrote and include the pictures and express your experiences abt your home village at terai.. but do you know this article and picture you posted might leads to the ppl movement in terai..which is now misleading towards the violence. **** *** So I just suggesting you that the article photos or any means to support the teria movement right now might creat the ppl anger and reach to support the bad elements who have certain vested self interest rather the real terai liberation issue.

Hope the ppl who are in support abt terai and their issue they all should be keep passion and creat public oppinon and participate the constituant assembly pole and bring to them to the national agenda… alll nepali are with their support so they must get success contituonally.

    thank you

Dear all nepali living all ove the world lets protect our country, Lets boycott this troublemakers who wants to seperate our Terai frm Nepal & lets stand For our Country. Hi, Rajeshjee,
Many many thanks for introducing Terai, popularly known as Madhesh, to the wider community in the world. Madhesh is obviously rich in culture and traditions. People of Kathmandu have always let the foreigners know Nepal as a mountanious country, which is bias in itself. It is true that most of Nepal’s land is full of high hills. However, we should never forget that the natural beauty lies not only in Hills and Mountain but also in plain land. We must realise the fact that Nepal is a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic country, which is the beauty in itself. Your endeavors would help the world know this fact.

You have done a great job. Please keep it up.

Rajesh K.C.’s attempt to show the beauty of terai has, in fact, won the hearts of many. All the photographs are superb. I hope the viewers might have enjoyed going through the photos from eastern Nepal to the far west. I came back to Kathmandu after spending nearly four years in terai. I was in Dharan. I found the plains to be equally beautiful and interesting as the hills and mountains. Getting to the plains after leaving the extremely polluted KTM, I always felt as if I had just had a cataract surgery. Free from pollution, the Terai plains are clear to our eyes and the air is pure. The people of terai (madhesis, pahadis, and the indigenous people) have been preserving their culture by actively participating in various events. The climate, greenery, forests and agricultural fields, roads, factories, flora and fauna, rickshaws, bull cards, dances, festivals and the hospitable people have always fascinated me a lot. While promoting tourism (both foreigners and Nepalese), Nepal Tourism Board should not only focus Pokhara or other hilly destinations but should encourage to travel to the plains. People of Terai should also grow more trees through personal and community effort to make the plains much greener.

I hope that all the journalists will spare a few moment in exploring Nepal during their visit to the country side and report on such issues as done by Rajesh K.C. Once again congratulations to Rajesh and best wishes to the terai basis. Warm regards.

where the chirping of the birds give message of peace,
Where people’s bright smile makes you forget the hardships of life,
My Tarai -the treasure of natural resources, gives life to All of us..,
Good work, which reminds me the freshness of my soil ,thanks .

    Great job, Rajeshji,
I am from Jhapa, seen the western part of the globe, but all are outdone with the beauty that we have. I appeal all to utilise our potentials to work for a sustainable peace and development of our motherland, rather than trying to aim to settle in the west. What we don’t have….almost everything that mother nature has given. The only things is that we need to change our mentality and ourselves.
    Thanks!

But it is shameful that some groups of evil hearted people are trying to destroy the image and beautiness of Terai. We should fight against them and have to get sucess and then we can get sucess. you are one of sachha nepali.

I was born in kathmandu and grown up there and i have no relatives residing outside. SO i never got the experience of the real nepal. Living in a jungle of concrete and amidst dust and smoke there are thosands of people like me yet to experiance a true nepal. So it is really nice to see all the pictures which i would have never been able to see…….Thanx rajesh KC and you made my day…
