Teej & Rishi Panchami

Posted in Festivals, फोटो फिचर at 23:38 by www.PHALANO.com

Teej is a festival special to women, married and single. Goddess Parvati went on a fast to attract Lord Shiva. In keeping with that tradition, married women fast for their husband’s long life, prosperity. The unmarried pray for the perfect husband. Dress in red and wearing ornaments, women light oil lamps and stay up all night. The festival culminates in Rishi Panchami two days later. On the eve of Teej, they cook all kinds of dishes and eat them at midnight, celebrate by singing and dancing. They are not supposed to eat on Teej day.

Women’s Festival in partcular bears a cultural- historical heritage of Nepal’s ageold tradition that can be surpassed by none in the world. But the theology inherent in it inspires the women always to be dependant and socially crippled.Ergo, modulation is required as time passes by.We must be thankful to the women of Nepal who have stayed fasting and who have prayed hard for all the men in the Land, the Land of Mount Everest.Meanwhile we men of Nepal have to pay them back fasting one day for them in person. For it is our personal responsibility.Thank you very much.

You never can see shuch a wonderful culture and practices in the world except NEPAL. Let’s preserve it and keep on celebrating years and years.

Why don’t you take pictures of DAR (nepalese varieties of food)? Would better if those were incorporated here.

I was wondering whether or not many women sang the “poila jana paaam” teej geet this year. There were some issues relation to her song. Just curious. I also heard there were some attempts to break the fast during the Teej festival by some women in the name of reconstituting the new nepali culture.

By the way photographs are excellent and it is very good way to present and preserve our culture and tradtions.

Hello Bishow nath Pokhrel Don’t don’t try to over smart ok. your comment is actually, That great person Dipen LuxembourgiBabu who always comment extra good. you just cut and paste like this:-विश्वभरिका पुरुसहरुलाइ दुई शब्दहरु,

जये जये माहादेब जये जये पार्बती. by the way next time please write your own view that good for you. you make me laugh again and again. lol

The name ‘falano’ in the falano.com is invisible and abstract name. This web blog has covered the arena of Nepalese culture where many untold ethos and values of culture have been assembeled in diverse ways. This site has become a small window to peep the epochal reality of our time being living in different diasporas. So, I would like to request the designers of the web to rename it in a boarder and wider way where we are able to enlarge our possible perspectives and potentialities at the times to be approached in the fields of culture, language, minset and mentality of varities and types. Finally I have enjoyed watching this site regularly.

Culture is an essential part and parcel of an individual’s identity. The more we are culturally associated the more we are spiritually and physically reunited. So this site browsing is a small window from where we can peep the canvas and collage of Nepalese culture especially women.

These were shot with a FLIP. I used the magic edit software that comes with it. You add in all the vioeds you want to include and it does a random sequencing. I’m sure real film makers would laugh at this, but I would normally toil over edits and it would remain in the to do pile.
