Visit Nepal Year 007: Bring your SLR (guns) and SLR (cameras)

On a hill top in Kavre last week, the People’s Liberation Army showcases excellent hospitality and their big guns. On display in the front rows are Heckler & Koch G36s captured from the army, AK-47s and an assortment of SLRs and INSAS rifles that the visiting media are encouraged to take pictures of. Further back in their neat formations, hoping to be less noticed, PLA fighters demonstrate their disciplined drills with smaller .303s or empty handed with pretend guns.

Later in the day, visitors are ushered off to pose for pictures with their fatigue wearing hosts. With guns pointed at cameras, and cameras pointed at guns, they are cheered on to hold the prize winning metals and smile. A five hour four-wheel drive away from the heart of Kathmandu, this media-savvy Maoist event paves way for future Xtreme-politics tourism ventures.

Guerrillas welcoming journalists at Kami Danda of Kavre.

Giving journos a helping hand.

PRETENDER: Towards the rear of the drilling formation, the women guerrillas have .303s but this one doesn’t even have that.

MESS IN THE MESS: A Maoist cadre serving meal in the mess.

REPORTING ALIVE: Kantipur Television reporter speaks into his camera while a Maoist cadre also shoots.

LIGHT-CAMERA ACTION: A guerrilla with an AK47 rifle puts up a pose.

ALL’S FAIR IN LOVE AND WAR: A Singaporian student is allowed to fondle a Heckler & Koch G36 captured from the Nepal Army.

WHO’S FAST ENOUGH: A woman guerrilla teaches a media man to take aim.

Goodbye to the TUG-OF-WAR!

I don’t understand why so many people here seems happy seeing our innocent villagers carrying guns. Infact they supposed to carry education material instead of guns. I’m pretty much sure our country will never be as peaceful and beautiful as it used to be. Now though its already too late guns, hatred will do no good to our country it will bring more devastation and will break apart nepal. And that we all gonna see. BE CAREFUL EVERYBODY!! Act soon b4 its too late people.!!

    Dear Nayantara Ji

This picture is really good for all of us who is really out of country. The picture will help to send the motto & view of maoist and Peoples Liberation Army of Nepal for foreigner. The world is now hanging in one computer monitor. Before the King Gyanedra and other aliances party back bite about maoist. They are terroist and they will kill the civil thats why the tourrism of Nepal & peace of Nepal is sold like by shopkeeper.

In this picture , really I found the PLA’s situation on camp. Now PLA is also a Nepales peoples Army. The government should help to them by providing good camp and facilites.

There must be so many painful stories behind the military exposure of these youth. Now, it is enough. No more manipulation to these youth who deserve to be creative and contribute to nation building! War kills people that we have seen for a decade. It is time that this military force be transformed to become peacebuilders in Nepal. If these political leaders can use youth in armed struggle, why not they give youth the roles in the peace process and peacebuilding?

    dear sir
    all maoist and nation
thanks for the oppertunity to comment, and lovely to see all the phothes of our dear maoists who are really investing their lives for the change of nation.its really very sad thing for our nation to fall behinde in every thing,we all know that you want to bring changes in the nation and you are at work too.its good but there never comes changes by fighting and bloodsheding, peace comes out of peacefull heart and love covers everything, we suggest to change the nation there should come changes in every singal life ,heart and mind of nepali.this is all possible only in the hand of God,who is Jesus Christ who died for our nation long back so we dont need to die ourselves and kill some one to change the nation.HE says”i am the way, life and truth”those who know the truth, truth shall set them free.its all new life in Jesus.we pray our God and ask him to change our nation and set peace, love, unity, prosperity etc up in this nation.

Among 98.9% soldiers in this freedom fight are fooled by their leaders because everything is for money . ***, they are not the freedom fighter they are doing this battle not for peace of nepalese people but for dollars (*** green money) hahah… its hilarous how we nepali people think they are right and our politicians are the number one root of this degreading economy and status of our peaceful country and they must be over thrown and new educated wealthy people must rule not another old greedy politicans , Freedom fighter have done good things but they are also just played by higher rank and both side are corrupted . Now its the time for Youth to decide either those politicians get out or get kicked and in the maoist side the corrupted side must get kicked out and bring a new change or ***

Peace to all nepali people from both side (R.I.P) stop killing for money…………….

Maoist which start the warfare since 10 years and now the largest political party still carry SLR rifle. As there is saying that still they threaten with such weapons and even now also people fear them.So why dont SLR camera click on them and teach them a good lesson.Any way SLR RIfle can kill Thousand heart but ONe photo of SLR Camera can speak to millions of people.

Yuk!!!! What a disgust!! Guns are just the tools to scare a child and cowards. It’s a fear that seems reverence. Dont you all know-War fought for whatever reason ends in disaster. Maoist rule by threat and guns. Politicians, they have ok ideals but who has thought about brutal hands clenching the death tools; They will rip apart everyone who are against their personal and poltical will. Nepalese- Beaware!! You have proved nowhere, at least have your own dogma and stick to it and not follow dog’s tail.

My parents were born in Nepal so I am concerned. Dont ruin Nepal. We are with you against bad moves. What if another groups arises in a same way as maoists!!
