this is very bad for Nepal and all nepalese if the government does not strech the hands for a compromising solution to solve the nations problems lasting since decade to stop aggressions and Lives. This may not only harm the civilians but soon also the Royals and all other Governmental organs. Soon Nepali History end up in Den Haad.
Why due to one King so many lives has to be offered. Either he will respect his People as people respect and honor the King or better he leave all his executive powers *** leaving people in democracy. I think it has costed enough life for the King who is not ready to sacrifice and do his people good things. It should be a mutual Handle and not just one sided. King either makes a compromise or he hands over the Throne. Enough is enough!

    Jai Nepal

Thanks to Phalano.com for such an coverage of the movement. I express my support for the democratic movement fully and request all the international community to support the movement. This is the third time we are going for democracy and I hope this time we dont settle for partial democracy. We need to go for complete democracy demolishing the feudal structures and feudal mentality, once and for always. Lets welcome “Democratic Republic of Nepal”.

I am moved to tears everytime I see these glorious pictures of the uprising. The crowd is obviously filled with every-person, as opposed to rented crowds in the past. Moving still, to see tourists joining in on the protests, never mind their ultimate objective-democracy or adrenaline rush.

I have just one thing knocking me a lot that is why police beat people when they have caught them. Its totally a sign of extreme brutality, inhumane. This shows what type of people are in police force. No discipline and no respect, who mustn’t have well trained. So my request for police is don’t beat people when u caputred them.

We need lots of reforms in various sections of our country to make it functioning in well manner.

Hope to see peace one day in our beautiful motherland. Its tears will curse us for sure.

DO WE REALLY NEED TO KEEP MONARCHY?

It’s time to ask ourselves: do we really need monarchy in Nepal? King is supposed to be a symbol of unity. He is supposed to unite the irresponsible politicians who couldn’t excercise democracy well and the jungle-boys (the Maoists) whose insurgency claimed thousands of innocent lives.

The king with his infamous coup d’etat has only been able to prove that he is indeed an opportunist. He asked for 3 years’ time frame during which he promised to return democracy back to the people. One year has already elapsed and there is absolutely no sign of his desire to return power to the people. I personally do not understand why he is talking about democracy when all his actions seem to be undemocratic. How can democracy prevail with undemocratic acts? The royal government has gone hard on press freedom, human rights situations have been gradually deteriorating, intellectuals being prevented to travel outside the country, leaders detained. These activities clearly suggest his foul intentions. The question arises: how is he going to give democracy back to us when he has failed to provide people with at least some symptoms towards returning democracy? Within the last 1 year, he has never even initiated dialogues with the major political parties. All he says is: “we are always ready for a dialogue”. He can initiate coup d’etat but he can’t initiate dialogue.

We’ve already had too much trouble in our country. King is not to play politics. King is to play the role of a father of a nation, a father who does not shun his children but helps them to exercise their rights. If he is not willing to play this role or if he is incapable to establish himself as this kind of monarch, then we simply do not him. We’ve already got Maoists and the political parties to tame. We do not need a third entity establishing itself as an extra burden. We do not need him for running coups. We do not need him for aggravating the already-worse situation. We’ve had enough trouble without him.

Just being called an incarnation of a god does not fulfil the needs of the people.

Better not to involve in this continue drama? What it gives us return in your guess? What is democracy for poor country like Nepal? Do not dream to have a democracy and Human right in Nepal like in America or other advanced countries.
Nepali earliest want peace but not everyday demonstration and continue strike in the name of complete democracy. Believe yourself that leaders are making you big folish. If your demand was resonable India and other advanced countries directly could intervence and establish your guine demand like in 2046 but this time they are watching your gaijatra and they are not folish like you. If Maoists were not active in shadow then you easily win your game. Now think yourself how long you can attend this type of demonstartion and for waht???.

I don’t think he himself should have such bad policy to make his own people cry.. but may be his informers are saying him.. His majesty, nothing is happening outside the palace , every thing is in control.. hope king not just waiting for his last days in palace….

Putting fire on post office, telephone booth, police booth, buses and vandalizing private plus government property; Do you think this is good? Definitely not. I don’t understand why and for whom these people are doing this. If somebody says that this demonstration is for better future of our country then I totally disagree. Can anybody give me one example of any good steps taken by these so called leaders of so called democratic party for the betterment of the country in the past 15 years of democracy .I bet you can’t. They did nothing for the country, nothing at all. Whatever they did, they did only for there own benefit. Everybody knows this. So, I don™t understand why people are supporting these so called leaders of the party. I would like to request to these people taking part in demonstration to think for a while without being bias. I am sure you all will realize that whatever you all are doing is wrong. It is not for the better future of the country but for the better future of those leaders who when gets in power forgets completely about the people and the country.

SO PLEASE …………………… THINK. DONT WORSEN THE SITUATIION OF THE COUNTRY. TRY TO LOVE YOUR COUNTRY.

My hat’s off to the people of Nepal who are actively confronting a repressive regime. I know from my contact with the Nepalese people that they are amongst the most generous and warmhearted societies that I have encountered and it is therefore painful for me to see them pushed to the edge of their tolerance by a autocratic dictator. My hope from all their scarifice and pain is to see a fairly elected democratic Nepalese goverment, void of it’s monarchistic trappings, emerge in the 21st century.
America should take note of their courage and fortitude.

I think, the dirty and corrupted politicians and leaders turned out our country in to the hell like situation. Shall we trust the dirty and currupted politicians and leaders ? We saw democracy in our country. Do we want to see Loktantra too ? These things are still early for us, I think.

I just think that the police first needs to think before they take any action. They need to know that using the long arm stick and the weapons they carry are not to wipe out the general public but rather protect them. It is really sad and depressing to see these pics.

Actually is there no other way rather than fighting for democracy. Do we really have to fight each other. Why can’t it be peacefully ? At the end of the day we all are Nepali. This is 21st centuary and i think we must look at western countries for such thing. You never notice any banda, curfew, fighting or whatever. Their daily is always normal and people live peacefully. I strongly agree with what Shrestha BS of Australia commented above. Time has changed. It was then when our illiterate forefathers worshipped the king as GOD. They did, probably king took care of his countrymen. But what about this KING? Everyday people are suffering and crying. Country is going backward. Just close your eyes and think for a second. Has he done anything good to make our life easy, safe, make us feel proud to be a Nepali(when all the international news media is covering his and his son’s deed). Even if you ask hundred of questions, you hardly find one positive answer. I just don™t see any sense of keeping this Monarch paying him our HUGE TAX money:
He earns 2,426 times higher than that of Chinese president,318 times higher than that of Indian president,301 times higher than that of Pakistani president,173 times higher than that of Russian president,57 times higher than that of French president,15 times higher than that of British president,10 times higher than that of American president.
British prime minister earns Rs 2,19,58,000 (per capita income is Rs 18,16,200)
Russian president earns Rs 19,03,000 (per capita income is Rs 1,54,000)
Belgean king receives salary as a civil servant (per capita income is Rs 16,74,000)
And, Nepali king earns Rs 61,91,00,000 (per capita income is Rs 16,560=US$ 230)
It is now high time to think do we really need Monarch? I know we do get confused as who to choose between monarch and the same old corrupt politicians. But if we let king rule the country our children and grand children will be suffering the same way as we are.

For 15 years Political parties took over the power and the behavior of administration were nothing different than what is today. I don’t favor king either, but these political leaders are nothing different than the king. Just remember how many times there were changes in the government during democracy. One party protesting another and destroying public properties. All they wanted was power and wealth. I cry for my country, I support democracy but until those corrupted and power hungry people are there Nepal will remain as the unfortunate nation, and we as the unfortunate people.

Be careful what you thinking about Monarchy and Loktantra?

Yes, it is costly to keep Monarchy in Nepal.

But we can not SAVE Nepal without Monarchy in Nepal and it is very dangerous to Nepal without Monarchy. But Monarchy must stay Neutral in political issues like Royal families in Britain.

There are big countries China and India on the border of Nepal. There are so many crooks Nepali political parties and too many crooks Nepalese who wants to sell Nepal into India.

    We must be careful.

Even we will have LOKTANTRA; we must do CIVIL WAR for final battle. The worst situation has not come yet. We must be ready for that.

Are you really understand and ready for it?

All your pictures perpetually depict ample messages on how this demonstration, envisioned for restoring peace and democracy, is gradually taking a course towards an inevitable and precarious consequence.

What did the proponents of this strike anticipate from defying the curfew? Why did the riot control personnel implement brutal method to quell the demonstration. Now, after four persons’s death and thousands being injured are’t they convinced that it has become excessive and must end in order to stop more people being killed and public property damaged? Most apprently, what about those vulnerable communities which rely absolutely on the daily-basis income. These people don’t own motorcycles but they need kerosene, for fuel and light, and daily consumer items. But in such situation how can they cope with the exorbitant prices of the daily commodities? Why suffer more? For whom and for what? For ‘loktantra’? What does it mean to them? Someone in the Terai can burn a tyre but the ricksaw-pullers cannot afford to spare even one tyre. Someone in Kalanki can burn a van but a ‘Garawala Dai’ cannot sacrifice his Gara. Someone in Baneswore can breakdown boundry-walls to supply brickbats but a sukumbasi family cannot give even a small piece of wood and the old tyres becasue they protect the tin-roofs of their huts from being blown away by the wind. Now, who should be blamed? The government, the parities or the demonstrators and the police and army? The government and the parties must acknowledge their mistakes of becoming too ambitious. It is time for reconciliation and find a viable solution to reestablish peace in the country. That is what everybody wants.

Moreover, interestingly our ‘Atithis’ seem to have lost thier wit of ‘Deva Bhawa’ but looked courageous enough to join the demonstration to express international solidarity. They will certainly cherish this adventure tremendously and, perhaps, it will occupy a large portion if they wish to write their biographies. A big credit should be given to the hotel/tourism business sector. A peaceful country and a peaceful demonstrtion! What an irony!

Thanks to Rajesh and friends for very meaningful pictures. Keep up the good job.

    To Nepal Police and Army…

Police and Army Forces are not the Royal Properties. They also better use the humanitarian points of view. See all Police and Armymen, they also dont have themselves an easy task at this situations. YOu all also do only your duties to get your monthly salaries to feed your Family but is it worth to kill own Brothers, sisters and countrymen to earn underpaid salary. Why dont you all better use Understandings and support pro Democracy that you all achieve together with Nepalese Democracy an oppertunity to earch Average salary than underpaind waiges, that you have to lead a very unhappy life style.
Most of the Ghushya politicians also get equal oppertunity under democracy. Real Laws and rules be made to fascilate all nepalese equal oppertunities and possibilities. So join Hands to reach civil Citizens than to harm more and gain enimity and loose trust on Police and Army. Police and Armiy are the National Bodies to protect and not to harm where people pay Taxes to keep you all present and able to lead where you all are at missuses. Better wake up and reunite with nepalese People for Democracy. Stop aggressions both sidedly and make love and not war.

Your Majesty as you sees the world changing in 21 Century toward democratic moves for the freedom where French Revolution may be the good historical background. What King Birendra brought of Changes in Nepalese Constutution, was well thought move that you possibly due to the wrong advisory misleads and improper Informations lacking to leave few good securing and calming few words on all Nepali Citizens. You will also gain Sympathy from all Nepalese knowing its Soverignity of being the only Hindu Kingdom in Nepal. Yet wished as the only constitutional Kingdom with absolute Democracy where it™s Souverignity and traditinal Cultures be preserved. It would bevery wrong to lead such moves as in the past Decaded been taking place. I think you need an urgent controls and changes in your Royal Advisors who seemly dont give you the facts and real Informations. Dont give the Maoist any chances to exploit and benefit weakning all parties without aims nor plans and give the full Security and Guarentee of the safer and better Lives. We as the most contented and satisfactry Nepalese Citizen request your Majesty to hand back us Nepalese our Democracy back under constitutional Republic that you remain the only Hindu King. I suppose it™s the wisest to choose this. You as the best Businessman internationlly recognise and not only as the King l can defenately lead Nepal foreward to secure and Gusarentee to gain more sympathy and Respect. Your majesty we all have to adopt and move accordingly to the time factors to integrate ourselves in the global changes and openness in Ideology than to lead a lonely Movement to get isolated. Together we are strong. We wish Nepal further to have the only successful Hindu Kingdom and save it´s Souverignity to ensure each Nepalese the better life to guarentee all in coming future. Your Majesty you are also among us also when few mistakes had been done er learning from the Past mistakes to do better things for Future. God Bless your Majesty and all Nepalese. Jai Nepal

Hello All Nepalese political Parties and King…
Take this move of the people of Nepal as lessons that nepalese are heading for the great move for the Democracy for freedom abuses of Pressures and exploitations done my Governments, King and his Servants. Learn this that the King will be moved away very soon but its does not mean 7 Parties nor Maoists get better oppertunities to lead say ways or worser than to have to give Nepalese now better life and securities. This is the great move for total freedom and not to get Maoists or worser Parties who may lead Nepal to less facilities or worser conditions. Any Parties and politicians will follow thw King if this move will not bring better ways. All these Bloods are not to support Maoists or 7 unsuccessful Parties to lead nepal to worser stage. This is the move under the condition for any Parties now on to provide Nepal and all Nepalese betterment and better lives.

God save Nepal and all Nepalese who are sacrificing so very much for Democracy and Loyality.

It is very appreciable that 7 Parties, Kind and Maoists try to unite to build a new Constitutional Monarch Democratic Nepal. But how far is it practicle that it also may be realised in a functioning stage as all Parties anad its politicians are after all the same old corrupted members who all had misleaded Nepal to such situation. I have a fulldoubt that only theoretical Changes may be written but if this would alaso be 100% be practiced without any buts and when. I really wonder what mixed system ever be created. I do expect under Democracy no more Beaurocratics, no Briverries, No Power Missuses and all legal anda eual oppertunities for all. Not only the powers and fascilities centralised in Kathmandu Valley leaving the rest Nepalese behind. Kathmandu alone is not Nepal. I suppose all majorities should be achieved by all 75 Districts equally. All Infrastructure, Road construction, Drinking water supplies, Electricities, Telefon and Internet Connections and daily household aand Food needs and medical and Health Cares should also be well organised. All Insured and Handicapped and Disabled people due to the Chargings by Nepal Police and Armed Police should gain Free medical and health Treatments. They should also get financial supports. King and other political Parties should not missuse the power or Immunities. All corrupted Bodies should be removed and punished accordingly. Criminal punishments must be made under law. New Taxations Laws for Income and Properties should be maade so that everyone seeks equal rights and oppertunities. Poorones should seek state supports. Children should seek free Education and health care. Medical and Healthcare insuranced should be done for all. Racial, Ethnic and other Discriminations should be stopped and punished. Woman and Children mishandle and crimes should be punished in highers stage.
New Traffic laws and Driving Licenses laws should be made that wrong illegal Drivers be moved away from Traffic. New Army and Police laws and ordnance should be made. King should only remain as traditional Reprensenting Body without Power. King and the Royal Family seeking public Fianacings and privileges should not be permitted to deal or trade. They should be optionally privileged either National public financing or selfstanding Business and trade like other public. Braveries and criminal acts should be highly punished. International Market and Investors and technologies should be highly privileged. International Supporters and Projects should be facilated with possibilities and conviniences. Higher Schools and Universities should be supported and uplifted. Practical Training Centers should be opened and financed. Public Transportation facilities throughout the Nation should be spread for the developement in every field till extreme villages. A new National Anthem should be made that the king is only the representing Body under Democracy. SO much we wish you all responsible Lawyes, King, politicians and Parties and all individual nepalese to take part to develope and foreward Nepal and its citizens in new Era of total Democracy.

    Jai Nepal.

Because They are Absolutely innocent peoples.to me, it is bad for who are staying in aboard.our History says, The Guest is equally God. and our country is poorest.and without Tourist we can not get selary who are working in Nepal.so,According to me please be very kindness for spacial Touriest who come from around the world. Every individuals has their problems( Afno dokha afai sanga), but what to do one day we all have to leave this wounderful World, so be happy and contain. I feel people in Nepal were brimed with tears shouting for peace and harhony and i comment that this is the problem of dividing not being united, and i wish may peace comes to all (Nepali dagu bhai and deede bhaine) here after.

Democracy in a poor country like Nepal doesn’t fit well. Look at where Nepal is now and look at where Nepal was during king virendra. Under king virendra, no messy like today. It is either the politicians that are there only to chit and lie people by corruption or is the people of nepal misuing the word democracy.

I used to love nepla and lived for almost 20 years. I am all done with nepal and recently moved to the west. There is nothing left in nepal now other than death at anytime. It is more like iraq. you are not safe at any place.

Look at where the government right now. Few maoist could change the whole course of the government and civilians will be a slaughtered again.

For nepal there is no any solution left. Only solution is to leave nepal but that is impossible for the poor nepalis.
