Holi Festival

Holi or Fagu festival is being celebrated by smearing Abeer (red vermilion powder) and throwing colour and water-filled balloons at each other. An important festival of the Nepalese people, Holi begins on the eighth day of the new moon and ends with the burning of the “Cheer’, which was installed earlier, on the full moon day Saturday.
The festival revolves around mythology of the demon king Hiranya Kashyapu ordering his sister Holika to enter a fire with Pralhad, son of the demon king and a devout follower of Lord Bishnu, in her lap so that Pralhad would stop chanting the name of the Lord. The catch was that Holika wouldn’t burn in the fire because of a boon she had received from god. But it so happened that the fire burned Holika whereas Pralhad remained unharmed and came out of the fire still chanting the name of god.

From then onwards, the festival has been celebrated by smearing colour in enjoyment. There is also a saying that Lord Bishnu had told Holika that the boon she had received would be meaningless if it was misused.

Happy Holi rajesh jee ,,,,,,
I prayed you would feel restful
And know tranquil peace today
To touch your soul most ’specially
As you journey on your way
I asked the Lord enfold you close
Within His tender arms
So you would feel supported
And protected from all harm
To know light in the darkness
With hope to guard your heart
Faith to trust His promises
The peace of soothing calm
This prayer I whispered for you
As you’re so sweet to me
May all your days o’erflow with grace
And love eternally
Have a bless weekend
With love an Prayer,,,,,,, from omraj

What a loser dude..its because of people like you that nepal’s image has been tarnished in the international community. Every year I see all these foreign tourist women being manhandled and touched all over in the name of “celebrating holi” and then the poor women have nothing to defend themselves with because they dont even understand the spirit of the festival. they leave with a disappointed image of our culture and its because of people like you. I am surprised they even let your comment up there, please have it removed to maintain the standard of this website, webmasterji.
