Nikkor.jpgNikon Inc. introduced the new 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor lens, a compact, lightweight 11.1x zoom lens that is ideal for high performance everyday photography and incorporates advanced features such as Nikon’s Extra Low Dispersion (ED) glass, Silent Wave Motor technology (SWM) and Enhanced Vibration Reduction (VR II), in a DX-Nikkor design engineered exclusively for use with Nikon DX format digital SLR cameras. With a remarkable 18-200mm focal length range (picture angle equivalent to a 27-300mm lens in 35mm format), the lens conveniently covers everything from wide landscapes to tight portraits and action photography. Advanced Nikon engineering has lent the lens a compact lightweight design that offers excellent handling characteristics and superb optical quality.     I guess it is a typing error. This lens becomes 18-200mm in 35mm film and it becomes 27-300mm in digital SLRs. You have stated just the opposite.

    Personally I would not prefer this lens eventhough it has VR mechanism. To my experience Nikon would not need to add VR feature if they had made this lens 2 stops faster than its widest
    available aperture of 3.5 .

    I feel, for other recreational use this lens is ok but for photojournalism I’ll rather go for Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 and Nikon
    70-200mm 2.8 IF-ED.

    hi siddahrtha
    i recently bought a Nikon D50 which has 18-55 mm lens.

    i want to have some more lens power , can u suggest which one should i go for ?
    do u think i should go for the nikon 70-200mm like what u have suggested above or some others? Please suggest.
    actually , i am novice in photography , so could u also please help me choosing an external flashlight for this D50 ?

    You don’t need a great camera or great lenses to become a good photographer. You just need to use your brain and feelings.

    A good camera/lenses does not make a good photographer.

    If you want to take technically superior photos, then you may need good equipment.

    Hi,

    I hv purchased a Nikkon L4 Model (Digital camera).The next day i found Lens in error message on my screen.When i went to Nikkon authorised servi cecentre they changed my lens .Is it nessary to change my original lence?This error may be due to some software problem.Is there any other solution to remove the lens in error message without changing lens.Please let me inform any body having knowledge on this.
