महाशिवरात्रि पर्वको पूर्वसन्ध्यादेखि मन्दिर क्षेत्र दर्शनार्थ आएका भक्तजनको स्वागतमा सिंगारिएको छ । झन्डै अढाई लाख दर्शनार्थीको अनुमान छ । शुक्रबारदेखि नै भक्तजन आउने क्रम जारी छ । मन्दिर वरिपरि बिहानैदेखि ढोलक र मृदंगाको आवाज गुञ्जिरहेको छ । टिभीहरू प्रत्यक्ष प्रसारणमा तल्लिन छन् । साधुहरूको दर्शन गर्न र विभूति लगाउन भक्तजनको भीड छ । दर्शनार्थी साधुसँग भाङ र गाँजा माग्दै, किन्दै गरिरहेका देखिन्छन् । यसपाली भारत तथा नेपालकागरि साधुसन्तको संख्या २ हजार नाघ्ने अनुमान छ । more »
तत्कालीन साप्ताहिक जनमञ्चका लागि क्यामरा भिरेर म बाहिर निस्कँदा फोटोग्राफर भन्ने चलन थियो । फोटोग्राफी समाचारको अभिन्न अंग वा आफैंमा समाचार भन्ने मान्यता थिएन । कुनै महत्वपूर्ण घटनास्थलमा पुग्दासमेत अरू कोही फोटोग्राफर हुँदैनथ्यो । प्रजातन्त्र पुनर्स्थापनाको त्यो प्रारम्भिक कालमा पत्रकारिताको व्यावसायिक र संस्थागत संरचना सुरु भएकै थिएन । निजी क्षेत्रले पत्रकारिता एउटा विशिष्ट र सम्भावनायुक्त व्यवसाय हुन्छ भन्ने आँट समयक्रममा बिस्तारै कान्तिपुर पब्लिकेसन्स्बाट मात्र देखाउन थालेको थियो । कान्तिपुर स्थापनाकै केही वर्षसम्म अझ हामी औंलामा गन्न सक्ने क्यामरावालहरू फोटोग्राफर भन्दै बाहिर निस्कन्थ्यौं । राजनीतिक पार्टीको कार्यक्रममा त मलाई क्यामेरा निकालेर तस्बिर खिच्न अप्ठ्यारो लाग्थ्यो । डेढ दशक लामो अबधि होइन तर यसमा सय गुणा परिवर्तन आइसकेको छ ।

The judging sessions started on Saturday 28 January and will continue until 9 February. This year 4,448 professional photographers from 122 countries entered a total number of 83,044 images; 182 photographers more than in 2005. The jury will award prizes in 10 theme categories and select one image as the World Press Photo of the Year 2005. The theme categories are: Spot News, General News, People in the News, Sports Action, Sports Features, Contemporary Issues, Daily Life, Portraits, Arts and Entertainment, and Nature. The world premier exhibition of the award-winning photographs will open at the Oude Kerk, Oudekerksplein in Amsterdam on Monday 24 April 2006. The exhibition will be on show until 18 June 2006 and will subsequently travel to over 85 cities around the world.
